A lifelong passion for educating children to be "menschen"
I am the mother of 11 children. (one birth at a time) My husband is also an educator and shares the same love for children and dislike of tv. I worked throughout my child-rearing years part-time as a kindergarten teacher to 4-year-old boys and eventually a preschool coordinator of 2
In 2006, I was the recipient of the Australian Family Childcare Director of the Year Award which recognized my work in this field and proved to me the importance of doing something you are passionate about.
It’s not selfish to fill your own cup
so you can pour into others, its essential
Over the past decade I have turned my focus towards educating parents.
After studying to become a qualified parenting educator, I developed a program based on the Canter and Canter method. The program instills in parents the notion that our children are our future and how to nurture that through positive and assertive discipline. I continue to run parenting workshops, professional development for schools, childcare
A movement which recognizes our children are our future
Bringing up kids has got to be the hardest job in the world. With over 30 years professional experience and 11 children of my own, I felt it was time to share with you my most valued lessons on the much-needed focus on developing healthy social and emotional outcomes for children. I guess I break all the rules by dispelling the naive notion that children are helpless and fragile beings. They are strong, clever, capable and funny – but also challenging and at times can be manipulative. They need loving, strong and empowered parents who are well equipped to handle all of that.
